More On My Swollen Left Foot

Well it’s been almost 6 weeks now that I’ve been dealing with swelling in my left foot. I’ve had X-Rays to make sure I didn’t have any cracked bones and been to a couple different doctors. I apparently have scar tissue in my ankles from a snow mobile accident several years ago and this combined with soreness in my ligaments and tendons may be the source of my problems. I bought a new pair of walking shoes and immediately put a pair of Orthaheel Sport orthotics in them which seems to help. Additionally I have continued to wear a compression sock on that foot for the past 3 weeks. Once you get used to them you really don’t even notice the difference and they definitely reduce inflammation which eases the pain.

My doctor continues to tell me to stay off my foot as much as possible and elevate it for at least an hour 3 times per day. It is very apparent that when I am on my feet all day they are much more swollen at night. It’s especially bad if I take of my compression sock and get in the shower, it will swell to the point were it feels like my skin is going to burst.

At this point I’m also trying acupuncture as there is a very good practitioner in our area. This has done wonders to ease the pain as well. He is confident that if we keep the pain under control then the inflammation will ease as well. I’m a strong believer in trying various approaches to discover which approach will solve an issue. I didn’t want to go down the road of endless testing and anti-inflammatory drugs so I’m using a combination of methodologies. I have read online how many people are frustrated by a swollen foot so I hope to conquer this in order to help others.
